hey everybody, havent been on in awhile but since then i installed a mcgauphys 2/4.5 drop on my truck. its been good for awhile but bottoms out real hard, besides that i was doin a little burnout yesterday and hit a bump and heard a real loud noise then things were thumping and making a horrible racquet. come to look under my truck i notice my rear shifted and kinda rolled on me and broke my universal joint, bent my shocks and bent the plates from the flip kit. Now i spoke with someone and i was instructed to weld the kit on but never in the instructions did it say anything about welding. Any opinions? kinda pissed, cost me alot in damage. thanks!

That sucks!! I've heard that it has to be welded from others in my research. You would think they would note that...

Ya you have to weld the axle perches. The factory doesn't finish the weld all the way for some reason and when you do a flip kit it breaks the unfinished weld. Its been known for long enought I don't know why the drop companies don't mention it when they sell the kits.

I think the problem here is that the kit manufacturers just assume that if YOU are installing these kits, that YOU KNOW that the saddles need to BEE welded, BEEcause anyone with suspension and axle knowledge should know this.

Weld 'em up boys. Wink

Does DJM do a flip kit or drop leafs I forgot? Some trucks can get away without welding them my friends truck didn't need them and was fine. You just have to use some judgment when looking at them and decide if its worth the risk.
