Hey this is most likely nothing at all as the truck runs and drives perfectly but I was wondering if anyone else here has this "issue"... Usually only when its cold and has the slightly higher idle, when I put my Ram into drive, unless I got good pressure on the brake pedal, the transmission kinda slams into drive and jolts the truck forward a little. Is this normal, does anyone else have this happen to them, and will it damage the transmission if this happens on occasion? Thanks guys!

I don't think a truck is ever supposed to slam into gear and jolt forward. When was the last time it was serviced (the trans).

It was serviced about 5000 miles ago at a dealership. I asked them about it and they said there wasnt anything wrong with it but when they had it, it didnt do that of course. But like I said, it ONLY happens when you dont got the brake applied firmly.

Try to get a scanner and see if there's any trans codes.it can have a code set without turning on the dash light

i somewhat have the same problem on my 05 daytona, make sure the fluid is up to the top mark on it. i seen another post on it here and seemed to help with my problem that started after i had it serviced. besides a pan that drips a little like a quarter size spot after 3 days o sitting.
also on the slamming, try starting it in neutral let it idle down then put it in gear, there is a checkball on the top of the tranny that when it starts sticking open the fluid will seep back around it and not keep the line full that it is in, the pump doesnt pump in park so it is actually sending air when you start and put it in gear , then the fluid pressure builds up as it you give it gas to move causing a surge. hope this helps.

are you referring to the torque convertor check ball that is suppose to prevent fluid from draining back out of the convertor after sitting.?

Ok.just wondering.that Def.has been a problem with the 545.could have a suspected bad oem filter.and seems that is always a problem with any aftermarket cooler return filters.

Might also check for incorrectly installed Sump filter and or seal sometimes the neck of the filter can crack if forced in .or it could just be low fluid.

Thank you everyone, all that shed some light on it. Letting it run for a min or so in Neutral eliminated it so far. Went into Drive this morning no problem.
