Hey all,

My rear end has finally came to the end of its life and I am looking to buy a clean whole assembly and avoid the chance of problems having a shop do it.

I found a nice machine shop online that cleans, rebuilds, and paints whole differentials but the websites pricing is a bit weird compared to the quote I was given on the phone. http://www.powertrainproducts.net/

They list a 2000-2001 9.25 3.92 for 4x4 for $1200
My current 2004 9.25 3.92 for 4x4 is $2000 when I called to have them look it up.

Are the 9.25 rear ends all the same? Will the 2001 mount up with my 2004?

Also what would be the difference in rear ends listed with and without 4x4?

All insight appreciated, It could save me $800.
Thank you
Mark

Thanks for the reply. I never thought of that one, and that could make things a challenge.

Anyhow, I made a few phone calls yesterday and one of the guys at Chrysler spent some time checking it out with me. Long story short we can only fit 2003-2007 diffs, in which they have 9 different part number supersessions just for the housings.

Looks like I wont be saving $800, but you really cant go wrong with a free 3 year warranty that will pay to put the replacement in.

The only question I would ask you is it a limited slip differential?

I don't know if all four wheel drives came with a limited slip differential.

I know it was an option but again I don't know all about four wheel drives.

Mine is a four wheel drive with a limited slip with the same gear ratio you're talking about.

I know it's listed as an option on the window sticker.

At just over 50,000 miles I have had no trouble at all.

But I also all the maintenance programs which is to change the oil every 15,000 miles because of the clutchs clutchs in a limited slip.

I'm curious what went bad.?

Steve
