Of course we'll still be working on it. We already have a deposit.
Last night my setup guy showed me a new output, remade from scratch. It's looking great. A few more adjustments and it'll be all wrapped up. I'm hoping for the end of this week or early next week.
Thanks everyone for being so patient! We want this as perfect as you do.

For you guys that have the Katzkin covers, does the yellow match the interior perfectly? or is it off just a little? I'm trying to make my mind up on leather or wet okole.....

The yellow does not match perfectly in fact it is noticeably paler. I must admit nobody has noticed it except me and I constantly get compliments on the interior.

Getting back to HRE,
I think his headrest design would look perfect on our cloth interior.
However, Iíve look at the headrests. How does one remove the cover fabric without ruining it?

2929,
It takes patience and some guts. I've done it plenty of times for local people. Everyone else before you has done it themselves. The worst I've seen was a 1 inche tear - which is not seen once the cover is back on the seat, since it's on the the bottom right next to the mast.
Subaru and some Acura folk have it best - a simple zipper and the cover slides off. Most every other car has plastic clasp fasteners....

A) Undo the clasp ::
Take a headrest off the seat.
Sit on a chair/step/etc. Turn the headrest upside down and rest it between your knees, with masts at a 45 degree angle pointing away from you.
Find the seam running between the masts.
Compress the cushion front and back at the bottom, toward the seam. Use your hands and knees, too. This will release some pressure on the plastic clasp. It's the pressure that makes it hold so tightly.
While holding pressure with your knees, undo the plastic clasp that is tucked into that seam. If you have strong hands you can do this without releasing the pressure.

B) All you have to do is stick a vacuum nozzle onto the foam at the bottom. Turn on the vacuum to compress the cushion. You'll now have a much easier tim getting the covers off the cushion!
Start pulling the cover off, one corner at a time.
When the cover is almost 1/2 way off, continue to work on just one side of it. You'll rotate the cover off the cushion.

Putting them back on is very easy. Just wrap a plastic shopping bag over the cushion. Stick a vacuum nozzle into the bag opening and wrap the bag around it. Turn on the vacuum. It will compress the cushion like a raisin. Slide the covers on. Center it best you can. Turn off the vacuum. Recenter the cushion. Cut the bag or just tuck it under the covers or rip it out entirely. Reclasp the covers. Done.

This is a lot of text and is making this out to be a lot more than it really is. It's no sweat when you get down to it.

Here is some inspiration if you need it:

Viz,
I'll try to post pics as soon as I can. We're so swamped with summer! Completing orders take precidence over pics for the time being.

Finally have a pic for you all!

I put some packing peanuts into the headrest to fluff it. But it's not exactly how it would be on the headrest cushion. So expect some distortion of the embroidery in this pic. Once the cover is placed back on, the cushion will flatten out any wrinkles seen here.
