I just got my magazine in from them with some of the cars that will be in the 2009 auction. I woill venture to guess that the prices will not be as high as they have been in the preceeding years.
Thought I would share some with you and open this for discussion ...

Great pics Roger, thanks. I have to agree with ya. You could possibly get some good deals this time around.
Wish we had some extra cash laying around!
Those Vettes are friggin' sweet! cool_goatee

Mabe I am missing something but why are we assuming these can be had for a decent price? The economy? Most of the folks that buy these cars are not really hurting that badly yet. I really don't expect to see this part of the car market taking any type of hit for awhile. I could be wrong though. There is some sweet moparness in this thread.

I'm reading that even the people with a lot of money are being careful too. It's all relative. Where we may have a $2,500.00 house payment they have a $10,000.00 mortgage pymt. Look where that one ex-boxer went into forclosure on his house. He spent $32,000,000.00 to build it and once appraised at $25,000,000.00 but it dropped to $5,000,000.00 and he couldn't make the pymts. anymore. He couldn't even begin to sell it for what he owed. It's hitting all of else, on all levels.

I know allot of folks are hurting but the this type of car market is far different than the housing market. People who have these cars are likely not making payments on them so they are in the same spot now as they would have been before things got slim. Also boxers are famous for being bad with money. If he spent 32 million to build a house and could not afford it then that is his problem. Just because the housing market got nasty what makes him have to sell the house? Fact is he could not afford it before hand and thought he could just sell it if things went south and he lost a few fights. That is just bad business. Like I said I don't think this market will suffer. Either the cars won't meet reserve or like I feel they wil increase in value. I personally think that with the government aiming to increas CAFE standards and the big three looking at a possible end that these cars will actually increase in value. I think you will see auctions slow down before they will come down in price. My .02.

We'll see in January but I think we will see lower prices. Barrett-Jackson did away with the reserve system a couple years ago so what they sell for is what they sell for. Cool

I didn't know they got rid of the reserve system. I don't honestly watch these auctions much. It's just a bunch of rich guys playing bigboy collector and putting all of our dream cars a little further out of reach for the most of us with every auction. That is the problem. As soon as one idiot way overpays because he wants a certain car the market dictates that same price bracket for everything else in it's class. Great for the seller. Horrible for us. Let me know if you knock down that hemi cuda. Very Happy

Sorry Nick. They sneeked them on the Mopar page! That Black 64 should be a rare one.

Yeah, no reserve. My buddy was half afraid to take his Coddington creation in last year but did. He ended up losing about $6,000.00 on it but that was after all the fee's and such. You're right. These auctions are driving up the cost on the old one's and putting them out of reach for regular people.
