Has anyone ever visited those Skyline Caverns (Wow, is that an oxymoron or what?) in the parking lot where we meet for the cruise up the mountain?

It's been a while, we took the kids there a few years back.
Definitely worth the visit.

I've never been in the Skyline Caverns, but have heard they are nice, I have been in the Luray caverns which aren't far from Front Royal either, and they are nice too...

Can somebody give me some preliminary details on the trip like what hotel most of you stay in and for how many nights, etc. The wife and I will be traveling down from central Pennsylvania so I am assuming it is about a 2 hour drive to get there or so. Just need to know what a lot of you have done in the past, since I am one of the new-bees. Very Happy

PS..spotted a black Rumble Bee in the parking lot of where I work. Haven't been able to find out who owns it or if they are involved with this club but I am going to try and find out and see if I can recruit another member from this area.... Cool

Joe,

Thanks a lot for the info. I was able to book us into the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites for the nights of October 29th and 30th. I was able to use up some of my Priority Club points that I have with Holiday Inn so I got the room for free for two nights.

Zuke,

I will need a pass for the park, if you can pick one up for me, I will gladly pay you on that Saturday morning when we all meet up.

Thanks all. Am really looking forward to meeting some new folks and seeing some of the folks that I met in Carlisle at the Chrysler Nationals.

From Mount Holly Springs, you are looking at a few minutes over 2 hours to get there.

Most people who go for a hotel stay at the Super 8 Front Royal;

SUPER 8 MOTEL - FRONT ROYAL
111 South Street
Front Royal , Virginia 22630
United States
540-636-4888

Alot come friday night and leave saturday after dinner, but some stay thru sunday.

Which is also the starting point for the cruise, if you come in on friday night, you'll see a fair number of us tailgating friday night in the parking lot, enjoying some Twisted Tea (R) and each other's company.

You'll want to keep an eye on the planning and attendance thread to see if you can get in on a caravan coming down from PA, a fair number of the northern folks all come down 81 friday night so you might want to come in with some of them.

Passes are $15 per vehicle. I will pick up passes for anyone who needs them, and distribute them the morning of the cruise in the Super 8 Parking lot, people can pay me for their passes there in the lot, I will have a list in the planning thread when I start it that will list those I am picking up passes for. I don't actually pick up the passes until about 7:00 AM the day of the cruise, so people have lots of time to let me know if they have to cancel for any reason, or if they have a last minute need for an additional pass...
