I got in my truck the other day to go to work and noticed that my brake light was flashing on the cluster. The truck doesnt seem to drive any different. I did not get a owners manual with the truck so I don't know what this might be. The light flashes the whole time the truck is running. Anybody know what this could be? Truck has 91,000 miles. Thanks.

Something went bad in your ABS system. Are you pads due to be changed?

Look under the dash , follow the brake pedal, and you will see it , it the switch that when you press on the pedal makes your brake lights engage. they stick, about 30.00 bucks at auto zone, 10mins to replace.

Does it flash in park or only in gear ? If it stays on in park and starts flashing in gear then your parking brake is not fully released or the parking brake switch is bad.

Park Brake-On - If the park brake is applied
or not fully released with the ignition switch in the
On position, the brake indicator is illuminated solid.
The brake indicator will blink on and off repeatedly
when the park brake is applied or not fully released
and the ignition switch is in the On position if a
vehicle with an automatic transmission is not in
Park or Neutral, or if the engine is running on vehicles
with a manual transmission.

O.K. I went out to my Daytona, put the parking brake on, turned on the key engine off......and my brake light was flashing......started it and same thing..flashing. Released the parking brake and it went off. So the info I found before doesn't apply to our year trucks....Doh!

I still believe the problem lies in the parking brake switch circuit. I would look under the dash and make sure it is plugged in and making contact with the lever to turn it off. That parking brake pedal isn't the sturdiest I reached in to apply it by hand and bent it. It bent back pretty easy.

Shouldn't if the problem is in the parking brake switch, have you checked it?

O.K. the red arrow points to the rear part of the parking brake lever...parking brake is ON

The black arrow points to the contacts which are closed (touching) which turns the light ON

The blue arrow is where the parking brake lever (red arrow above) pushes down (when parking brake is released) to break the circuit to turn the light OFF.

Hope this helps you check the switch...or unplug it....the single connector in the pic..light should go out then.

Not the best pic...but I was holding a flashlight while taking a pic with my phone Smile

i checked everything under the dash today and it seemed to look fine to me. I guess i need to find someone who can scan for the code and go from there.
